Las Ramblas golf course

Club de Golf Las Ramblas de Orihuela is 5900m in length (5800m from yellow) and a moderately challenging layout due it use of the natural terrain. The course designer was awarded a special prize for its architecture and use of the natural cliffs, gullies, undulations and trees throughout the landscape.

There are many breathtaking views and interesting holes, notably from the 3rd to 9th. The tees often start high on the hilside and cross gullies and creeks on their way to the fast and true greens.  Playing the course requires reasonable accuracy off the tee to avoid the natural hazards but not long driving. Good iron play is rewarded. Course condition is normally excellent.

To add to the enjoyment, the course is home to many red squirrels, which are seen all over the course.

Around Orihuela and Costa Blanca

Costa Blanca and the area Orihulea Costa lies south of Alicante - the main airport for the area. From Alicante to Las Ramblas takes about 45 minutes by car on the AP7, passing Torrevieja on the way. There is also Murcia airport even closer at 25 minutes drive south of Las Ramblas in the province of Murcia and the Costa Calida.

Las Ramblas golf lies within the Dehesa de Campoamor - Villamartin area.  Villamartin's famous plaza provides a wide mix of bars, cafés and restaurants to suit all tastes. See video on the Villamartin link. The residential development on Las Ramblas is high class with luxurious apartments, villas and houses all built to a high quality standard by Quara, still operating without the financial troubles suffered by most developers in Spain. The estate is considered the best in the area as it is located within the golf course and so separated from the other more populous areas of Campoamor - Villamartin.

Golf

Four championship courses are within a 5 minute drive, including Las Ramblas and the fabulous Villamartin, a frequent venue for the Mediterranean Open.

The Real club de golf Campoamor, which is set amongst the palm and pine trees and is a beauty, and the very highly rated new course of Las Colinas, run by Troon golf.

There are another 15 golf courses within 15 - 45 minutes drive, including 6 Nicklaus golf courses, La Finca, and 3 at La Manga, so golfers have a wide selection of great courses to play.

Beaches

There are numerous beaches, Dehesa de Campoamor - Playa Flamenca being considered one of the finest in Spain, just 5 minutes drive south of Las Ramblas, with many more too numerous to mention.

Excursions

The Orihuela region, with its many museums, churches, and historic buildings, is well worth a visit. The old part of the town of Orihuela was declared a historic-artistic and monumental area in 1969. There are many noble buildings, six of which are declared Cultural Heritage sites.

Historical buildings and museums can also be visited in the nearby cities of Murcia and Cartagena on easy day trips. Even Valencia can be visited on a day trip.

For the lovers of environmental tourism, visit the lakes of La Mata and Torreviejafor a mud bath. These baths are renowned internationally for their curative properties.

Torrevieja, boasts a marina, waterfront market, street entertainment, shops, numerous cafes, bistros, restaurants, bars, and a beautiful church square. The superb palm-lined promenade and harbour boardwalk are the ideal place to go for an evening stroll.

In addition there are scenic drives along the Costa Blanca and Costa Calida, Mar menor and La Manga.

Climate

The Costa Blanca enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with cool sea breezes in summer and protection by surrounding mountains against the cold north winds in winter. The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeds 20 degrees.

In 1986 the World Health Organisation recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world - neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter. On average it can boast 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round destination.
